If we’ve not seen you lately at Pacifica Cantonese in Eccles, perhaps I’ll take this opportunity to to tell you a little bit about our ethos and the differences between Chinese and Pacifica Cantonese food.
Most of our customers are discerning and understand that Cantonese food has distinctive tastes, style and flavours.
Cantonese is one of the eight major styles of Chinese food.
To draw an analogy, the difference between Chinese and Cantonese food is like the difference between European and Italian food.
The word “Cantonese” here refers to the name “Canton,” which is a city in southern China officially known as Guangzhou today.
My family originate from this region and it was my mother, grandmother and ancestors that have passed down the secret recipes that we have continued to use here at Pacifica Cantonese.
Many of the comments we receive tell us how distinct our food is. Its origins from the Guangdong region were heavily influenced by those local traditions as Chinese emigrated to areas around the world.
Cantonese food’s main characteristics are high on emphasis on freshness of the food, preservation of natural taste and colour and presentation ranging from simple to the elaborate.
Pacifica Cantonese specialises in presenting Cantonese food as our family were taught all those years ago. We use the freshest ingredients, retain the colour and believe that it should look as good as it tastes.
